Montag, might this solve the problem of Noojaras detracting from the forum?

Montag, might this solve the problem of Noojaras detracting from the forum?
Suppose that there will be a two month trial period during which Noojaras will be a Featured Columnist of Old Elm Tree, and during that trial period Noojaras won't post anywhere but in Featured Columnist sub-forums. What do you anticipate? Do you anticipate that, in your opinion, Noojaras would detract less from the forum or do you anticipate that, in your opinion, Noojaras would detract more from the forum?

P.S. When answering, please pretend that you don't know and don't care who asked the question. Thank you in advance.

A hint that you might be facing ideology:
the same source claims to know that both of two statements are true, and the two statements are oozing with attitudes that are in harmony with each other, but there cannot be one universe in which both statements are true.

My second grade elementary school teacher told me to just ignore gadflies, and bullies because it is they who have the problem (and not those who they are pestering or abusing).

So all this is just a jones for your own column?

This whole discussion feels pretty icky to me. Technically, it's not against the rules, but it seems to me that it violates the spirit of OET to be discussing someone detracting from the forum. I wish it would just stop. Noojaras has not done anything wrong. If someone thinks he has, they should alert and point it out to us. The mod team will make a decision. No one else will be involved in the decision.

People who want discussions to stop generally don't start OPs in Fight Club. To resuscitate an old (and dead) argument.

People who want to stir up crap, however, generally do.

That's the first time I've seen you say that the issue is dead. I don't recall any peace treaty, so I didn't see anything as resolved. A ceasefire is not always permanent.

Anyway, you haven't commented on the actual proposal. It gives merely status, and no power. Its practical effect would be that future Noojaras posts would be easier to ignore because they would be concentrated in one section of the message board rather than dispersed throughout the message board.

If this were a huge BBS with a thousand people contributing their thoughts and feelings, on a daily basis, Noojaras wouldn't be a problem. But if anyone else ever wonders why this place doesn't attract more people, take it from me: on any given day, 2Pm in California, Noojaras has two thirds of the comments featured in the opening menu box. And all of them are lame.

If I was a newbie,I'd think, "What weird sad place is this?" Then I would think, "Well obviously this Noojaras is one of the more prominently featured and displayed people, and it's obvious they don't have much to offer." The way Oldelm is set up, it is impossible not to view the many posts he offers up, and if new here, not think that OldElm and Noojaras are one and the same.

One of the ways to lessen the impact Noojaras has here would be if we had a way to vote on posts, as there exists on other sites. Firedoglake has rec features, and so does DU. There are obvious advantages.

Then someone who is not really putting rational thought into their offerings can still post, multiple times each day should they care to, or every other minute, for that matter. But they don't clutter up the bandwidth as much. There are some people over at FDL that few people like, and they post whenever they want, but due to those lamebrains not being liked, and rarely being recced, no one has their nose stuck in their junque all day long. (Unless of course, they want to stick their nose in that person's junque.)

Thank you for a level-headed comment that demonstrates that you don't wish to exaggerate in the process of criticizing.

You have a legitimate underlying point, but Noojaras joined Old Elm Tree in August of the year 2010 and has only 267 posts. Do 267 posts constitute two-thirds of what has been posted on Old Elm Tree in the past two years?

Isn't that an insult to people who walk with difficulty?

Being featured and being easy to ignore are two different things. For the idea of featuring an easier-to-ignore Noojaras, see the following:

I know you are trying to be helpful here, but we don't have a rec/unrec feature because it is too close to popularity polls and promotes cliques as seen at DU. If people don't like any posts, by anyone, they can ignore them and comment on others and those new comments will fill up the recent post boxes. I think if people don't care for Noojaras' or anyone else's style of posting, or content, it would be kind to offer constructive criticism in private through pms.

That`s an incredible statement. I would like to see you justify it.

Some people are naive enough to think that after 1917 Bolsheviks represented the majority opinion in Russia because of the meaning of the Russian word "Bolsheviks." On the other hand, there`s nothing in my username that suggests I am one and the same as Old Elm Tree. Perhaps I missed an opportunity to select a username that would have encouraged people who are motivated to claim that there`s an Official Authority or at least some kind of Vast Winged Conspiracy operating whenever I post a message.

A hint that you might be facing ideology:
