RE: Kodak brought photography to the masses.
I still use my Kodak Retina. Nice Filmsie camera. It was made in Germany. Forget the history of it. Too much info to store in my tired old brain. Film advance lever is at the bottom of the camera. Took awhile to get comfortable with that.
![]() Polaroid is trying to make a slow comeback with their new Z340 but I don't think it will appeal to the masses like so many of their other cameras from the "good old days". What will you do today that you will remember tomorrow? |

RE: Kodak brought photography to the masses.
I had an Instamatic for taking family snapshots and whatnot, but I never really got into photography until digital came along. My dad was a pretty serious photographer and had all kinds of gadgets, a darkroom when I was a kid where he did all his developing, but it always looked so complicated (and expensive) to me that I never even approached it.
When HullBoss and I got married in 2003, he brought a Sony Mavica with him that his ex had given him, and it became mine since he's not photographically inclined, and I really liked the instant gratification. Once I got the hang of that, it was time to move on to the "rill dill" (as Sarah would say) and thanks to F. Gordon's recommendations and my husband's generosity, I'm now equipped. I guess since I was never a film aficionado I can't get involved in the film vs. digital debates. But it is sad about Kodak. http://www.northernvisions.smugmug.com |
