From Russia - No Return Address
Ahhh Spring. Birds dancing amongst the trees singing their songs of love. The air filed with the fragrance of newly bloomed flowers. And … snow??!! Only in Colorado.
This was last week. Just 2 days prior it was almost 90 degrees in the metro area. These were all taken with a Russian Plastic Optics Lens (like the type that kick started the Lomography Movement) on a Digital SLR. It’s fully manual which means it doesn’t communicate with the camera and the focus has to be done manually – although to look at these you probably can’t tell where I was focusing most of the time. It’s definitely not for the purist types. I just like funky things and this lens does some neat stuff with light and it flares like crazy. Things that would drive a technical purist crazy but I love it. I didn't venture too far off the single lane back roads. The snow wasn't a problem but the mud was. On one steep hill I was praying to the Toyota Gods because I didn't think I would make it and I had no where to turn around. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I promise that next time I post some snaps they will be “normalâ€. Thanks for looking.

I like a couple of them. Almost like tilt shift work. They look like classic B&W shots from ages ago.

Very enjoyable to see those photos. Some are blurry yes, but still great. Colorado still had snow recently?? Wow!
I love the last one. |

Focus is highly overrated. ![]() Yup, we got snow in the mountains last Friday. It will usually snow into June. I know that last year there were some ski slopes still open on 4th of July. What is cool for this time of year is Fog. Ground gets heated up - cool air moves in - creates a nice pea soup that is dangerous to drive in but can make for some nice images.
