Flurry of visa fraud-related lawsuits filed against Indian IT firms

among them Tata Consultancy Services This class action lawsuit was brought by non-U.S. citizen plaintiffs who were sent to the United States from India to work on software projects. One of the plaintiffs was the recipient of an L-1 visa, which allows foreign companies to transfer workers to their U.S. subsidiaries. The plaintiffs allege that the company violated U.S. tax and wage laws. ![]() (5 years ago, Hillary brought these pirates into her own carpet bag/adopted state) Clinton's free-trade advocacy is hitting labor where it lives Competition helps both sides, she says. A Buffalo deal yielded a few jobs. July 30, 2007|Peter Wallsten | Times Staff Writer BUFFALO, N.Y. — To many labor unions and high-tech workers, the Indian giant Tata Consultancy Services is a serious threat -- a company that has helped move U.S. jobs to India while sending thousands of foreign workers on temporary visas to the United States. So when Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) came to this struggling city to announce some good news, her choice of partners was something of a surprise. Joining Tata Consultancy's chief executive at a downtown hotel, Clinton announced that the company would open a software development office in Buffalo and form a research partnership with a local university. Tata told a newspaper that it might hire as many as 200 people. http://articles.latimes.com/2007/jul/30/...-buffalo30 |

Traditional evening gowns vied with saris of vibrant colors Tuesday night at the high-glitz dinner in honor of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. There were turbans and bindis as well as diamonds and brocades. "Everyone looks great; we're feeling great," White House social secretary Desiree Rogers told a phalanx of cameras as she arrived, betraying no hint of nerves at the biggest social event of the Obama presidency. http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-250_162-5766396.html ![]() 'Together, we can win the war on American Workers' |

RE: Flurry of visa fraud-related lawsuits filed against Indian IT firms
there is no "choice," as we all know.
I might make the effort to vote for Jill Stein, but then on the other hand, I might have something more fun to do than vote in their phony "elections," like a root canal or a colonoscopy or something -- because I'm discovering that even on Firedoglake (which is so tiny anyway), there is hardly any mention of Jill Stein these days -- TPTB do succeed in keeping any "competition" squelched, and the vast majority of Americans have never even heard of Jill Stein, and anyway, TPTB also succeeded in polluting any association with the Green Party and keeping it down as a "nutball," "far out" "whatever" party. "Elections" to me now mean something like "Christmas": something that other people consider important and "do something" about, but which I choose to ignore because it's all myth and fakery. |
