My aurora shot is gone, too. It was only one. I think I'll post it again.

RE: My iPad apps thread is gone.
Apparently the site had experienced some technical problems earlier ...I too had posted a thread that simply - poof - disappeared into ...well, wherever Lost threads disappear to. Luckily mine was easy to re-post.

Apparently, Reuters is using all the bandwidth.

Even if we could turn back, we'd probably never end up where we started.

A lot of threads have also lost some posts.

Oh, and my sig line botches up every time I correct it.

Hah...hey man, others are gonna need a translator to decipher that Gore Vidal quote which now appears as a series of esoteric hieroglyphics!

RE: My iPad apps thread is gone.
I don't know what happened, except that it was a problem with syntax and the database. It seemed to happen out of nowhere. Max tried to fix it and couldn't, so we had to put up the backup from the day before. So everything between that backup and the time it went up, disappeared. And you would not believe the amazing insights and incisive commentary I had posted just minutes before. But thank goodness that Max backs up every single day.

We need to resolve that hieroglyphics problem. We will be changing Reuters next after that, but we need to do things in order. Unfortunately that db problem jumped up last night and got us off schedule. Thanks for bearing with us.

RE: My iPad apps thread is gone.
I know some said that what they liked about DU was the updated news, but the Reuters here didn't do much for me.

Rather liked, prefered the articles that members personallly selected and brought to us here.
At least we could discuss them with that member.

As previously said, Cornermouse did a really good job of that, and while I failed to mention previously but much credit is due to Montag. I afterwards immediately regretted, for inadvertantly not having made mention of his frequent and worthy posts, often stuff off our radar.

I prefer less of the Reuter's robotic posting and more of our own home grown.
Because IMHO, sometimes less is more.
