Chris Christie..the nation's jobless lazy examples of an "entitlement mentality"
The man is a bully and just keeps on being rude. I don't know how NJ folks can stand it.

R. J. Eskow has a great column about the many people Christie has insulted.

Chris Christie: The Heartless, Smug, Bullying Embodiment of the Republican Party

Quote:New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is the embodiment of today's Republican Party and everything it has come to represent. You name it, Christie's got it: Disingenuous, smug, nasty? Check. Robotic servant of the corporate class, foisting its lobbyists' prefabricated laws on an unsuspecting public? Check. Hostile toward women? Double-check.

And last night he proved his bona fides as a Republican by proving he meets his party's other criterion, which is an absolute contempt toward the ordinary men and women who have been victimized by its policies. The night before the nation received its latest bad news on unemployment, Christie told a cheering Republican crowd that the nation's jobless were lazy examples of an entitlement mentality.

.....Christie's bullying style was best illustrated when he insulted and abused another constituent when he asked a perfectly reasonable question about taxes. He demanded that a state trooper bring the man onstage, berated him at length, and then ordered him expelled from the room.

During another meeting he called a law student an "idiot" and told him to "shut up" before having the student, a former Navy SEAL, forcibly removed from the building.
(Part of Christie's intimidation style includes hauling people onstage for a "conversation" - and then not letting them speak.)

Here is more about the "idiot" student. Christie played to his audience. It is in itself scary that the audience was pleased at such a display.

Governor Chris Christie to ‘Idiot’ student: ‘damn man, I’m governor, could you shut up for a second?’

There is a video included.

Quote:Fox News reports that during Friday morning's town hall press conference, Christie called on 34-year-old law student William Brown. The two got into a debate over a plan to rename Rutgers University, Rutgers Camden-Rowan. Brown, who is active in Democratic Party politics, says the merger and name change would negatively affect the university's reputation.

After Christie says that Brown and his fellow classmates who are already enrolled at the university will still receive a Rutgers diploma, Brown interrupts him, shouting back, "What about my son? What about my neighbors? What about my friends?"

Christie then appears to lose his temper, saying, "If you decide what you want to do is put on a show today, let me tell you, I can go back and forth with you as much as you want. And let me tell you something: After you graduate from law school, you conduct yourself like that in a courtroom, your rear end's going to get thrown in jail, idiot."

Christie then tried to explain his behavior to the receptive audience, saying, "I tried to be patient with the guy. Every time I tried to answer, he's like, yelling over me again." And he received applause for what may turn out to be a regrettable follow-up quip, when he said, "I mean, damn man, I'm governor, could you shut up for a minute?"

The NJ Star Ledger calls him out on his bullying.

Christie's bully act getting old

Quote:Keith Chaudruc, of Madison, asked the governor how he could sign off on a tax cut for the rich while lunch-pail stiffs were hit with painful increases like transit fare hikes. After some give and take, Christie invited Chaudruc to the stage for “a conversation.”

Chaudruc, reluctant to be part of another Christie YouTube moment, was escorted to the stage by a state trooper. Chaudruc never got another word in. Twice Chaudruc’s size, Christie crowded his personal space, raised his voice and lectured him on economics with a wagging finger. Each time Chaudruc tried to make a point, Christie cut him off.

When Christie finished, Chaudruc motioned for the microphone. This was, after all, a “conversation.” Christie shooed him away and a trooper herded Chaudruc off stage.

The clip appears on YouTube under the title “Christie rips apart rude questioner,” a headline written, no doubt, by a Christie disciple.

The audience there not only cheered and applauded but whistled loudly.

One thing you have to say about Republicans is that they find a narrative and talking points- then stick with them, no matter how dishonest or sociopathic the narrative and talking points might be.

And thanks to lazy, and equally dishonest, lazy and unethical "journalists" in America- (not to mention citizens) they're pretty sure that they can get away with it.

Repugs know that the facts aren't on their side. That's why they'll NEVER engage in an honest debate. Yelling over others and cutting them off is all that those mental midgets have.

They also have progressives constantly repeating their frames and memes, thereby reinforcing and solidifying their message.

Even Paul Krugman's been called out for this:

"Liberals tend to underestimate the importance of public discourse and its effect on the brains of our citizens. All thought is physical. You think with your brain. You have no alternative. Brain circuitry strengthens with repeated activation. And language, far from being neutral, activates complex brain circuitry that is rooted in conservative and liberal moral systems.

Conservative language, even when argued against, activates and strengthens conservative brain circuitry. This is extremely important for so-called "independents," who actually have both conservative and liberal moral systems in their brains and can shift back and forth. The more they hear conservative language over the next eight months, the more their conservative brain circuitry will be strengthened.

This point is being missed by Democrats and by the media, and yet it is the most vital issue for our future in what is now being discussed."

Good post. Democrats use such tentative language, afraid to speak out firmly. I have not heard many party leaders defending teachers or women's rights in public on TV. They are following the party policy too closely and their language seems awkward.

RE: Chris Christie..the nation's jobless lazy examples of an "entitlement mentality"
well then i suppose christie also proposed a vigorus jobs creation program so that all the "lazy" people would then be able to find jobs???? right??? i mean if people are lazy when they dont work and there are millions of more people looking for work than jobs to be had the only way to help "lazy" people you dont want to give "entitlements" to would be to ensure that they have a job, or that they die. if christie is not proposing jobs creation just what solution are they suggesting?

The cynic in me says the republicans have decided its cheaper and easier if they just die. That explains quite a few of their policies.
