Report: Peyton Manning to be released by Colts on Wednesday
Report: Peyton Manning to be released by Colts on Wednesday
by Mike Chappell March 6, 2012 http://www.indystar.com/article/20120306...-Wednesday excerpt: It began April 18, 1998, when the Indianapolis Colts used the first pick in the NFL draft on an All-America quarterback out of the University of Tennessee. It ends Wednesday when owner Jim Irsay, barring an unexpected 11th-hour change of heart, announces the release of quarterback Peyton Manning. The face of a franchise and the NFL immediately becomes the highest profile free agent in league history. “It’s one of those situations where Peyton wants to stay there and (Irsay) wants him to stay, but because of the circumstances, it’s hard to find a solution where he (Manning) stays,†said a source with direct knowledge of the situation. An ESPN report, citing unnamed sources, said the decision had been made, and that a press conference was planned for Wednesday. “It’s a tough, tough situation. It couldn’t be a more difficult scenario.†"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein |

RE: Report: Peyton Manning to be released by Colts on Wednesday
I heard that earlier. There's going to be some major scrambling getting ready to start for a lot of teams.
Everybody keeps saying Miami is the #1 team for his services, but if I were him, I'd look to the NFC west: a weak division who could have San Francisco, Seattle, or Arizona winning the division, depending on the QB. Hell, he could probably get San Fran in the Super Bowl if Harbaugh could put his ego aside and just let Peyton run the offense. And having Fitzgerald in Arizona would be a playground for him, especially if he could bring Reggie Wayne in tow. Even if we could turn back, we'd probably never end up where we started. Nahh! He'll uproot Tebow and send him packing to Jacksonville.
Manning's new home for the next 3 years is with the Denver Broncos. |

Time to retire and move on to other things.
Anyone who thinks otherwise after cervical vertebrae fusion has a throwback death or paralysis wish. Like choiceless gladiators -or tongue wagging spectators at some Roman stadia, circa 2000 years ago. Memo to Peyton: you had a better go than most, you got the ring- now be smart and classy, hang the helmet up. We aren't there to keep the bastards honest [the famous slogan of the now-defunct Australian Democrats]. We're there to replace the bastards. ~Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown |
