Manning/Lamo chat transcripts
The other day Wired released a bunch of transcripts of chats between Bradley Manning and Adrian Lamo. Somewhere I read that some people are questioning the authenticity of the logs as released by Wired, as well as questioning inconsistencies in what names were redacted. I think it was FDL where I saw that. Anyway, one link led to another and I found a pretty lengthy excerpt of the chat log at a site I hadn't heard of before: Queerty.com (clever name). After reading through the whole thing I must say I respect Bradley Manning more than before and I think that Adrian Lamo is a gold-plated SOB. This poor kid is out in the desert, wanting to transition, disillusioned by the atrocities he has seen in the war and with no moral support. Hence, he reaches out to Lamo, which we all know now was a huge mistake. Most of the time during these chats, Lamo isn't even paying attention or participating. When he does, it's just to pump Bradley for more info.

RE: Manning/Lamo chat transcripts
Glenn Greenwald makes the case that the newly released logs show Lamo and the wired editor to be liars. Lamo apparently lead Manning to believe that their conversations would be subject to evidentiary priveleges but he lied about his status. They also lied about why they didn't release the logs in their entirety.

Jane Hamsher at FDL makes the case that Manning had a direct source at the White House which really explains a lot concerning his treatment and the extraordinary delay in his prosecution. (my opinion not hers) I don't know how relevant this disclosure is as it appears in the context of DADT policy. I haven't read all of the logs.

This is a potentially huge story. Where is the coverage in the media?

Same place that kind of 'coverage' always is. Nowhere.

'land of the free. Home of the brave.' Fat chance.
