I think a far better epithet would be "Clarence Thomas". He really IS an affirmative action baby. He really DID get everywhere in life mainly because of racial quotas. Deep down he knows this, knows how unqualified he is except for the color of his skin, and it eats him up inside.

The substitution would be a lot less offensive, a lot more specific... and his name even happens to BE T(h)om(as).

Did you know that this is literally true? There was an article in New Yorker some years ago that discussed this in depth. His staffers are all plants from right wing think tanks, and get their marching orders from them. They put together his opinions, and he signs his name to them.

Did you also know that there has never been a Supreme Court justice in history who has more consistently sided with the prosecution, with the state and law enforcement - by a wide, wide margin? At the time of the article, he had only sided against the prosecution in one case - a case where the government had entrapped a guy on a pornography charge.

If you're going to be a disgusting corrupt SCOTUS Judge, as he's chosen himself to be, then why in the hell wouldn't you be on the side of your own minority race -- the people who have and still continue to have to fight for so much -- and rubber stamp everything?

I saw him on 60 Minutes, I think, and I just knew he was the one all the black kids in the neighborhood abused. You could tell by his body language and moping that he has a huge lack of confidence. I guess it all bubbled over into a hatred for black people .. because as we know, a vote for the conservatives is a vote against the black race.

I had not heard these stories until now, but it absolutely does not surprise me.
His people must not be exceptionally bright either.
After all, when was the last time Clarence Thomas every wrote for the majority/minority in an important case.

The Dems had more power to stop Roberts than the Republicans do to stop universal health care.

I wouldn't think there would be any more controversy whatsoever about what Nader said back in 2000.  He didn't say "there is no difference" between the two parties, he said there might as well be no difference because they were both captured by corporate interests, and because that meant that nothing else mattered, none of the differences meant anything.

You will get progressive things if and only if that is profitable for the investor class - period. Once in a while it may be in their interest to give you some "organic" this or that, or "green" this or that - if there is a quick killing to be made on that stuff. But it will always be one step forward and ten backward, because sooner or later the path to maximum profits will be down-sizing, depressing wages, getting rid of employees, bastardizing the products (almost all "organic" food is phony now, coming from China and Mexico), destroying the environment, setting up sweat shops and using child labor, displacing people from the land and destroying communities, culture, and wildlife, and on and on.

If the truth of that is not crystal clear to people today, I don't think anything would ever convince them.
